The Greatest Superstars In The Universe (Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger #1)

Tokusatsu is live action films or TV dramas with a reliance on heavy practical and special effects like suitmation, minature city sets and pyrotechnics. This has been used for shows in this genre like Kamen Rider, Ultraman, Godzilla, etc. With the core parts of the genre being a Kaiju (Giant Monster like Godzilla), Kyodai Heroes like in Ultraman and Masked Hero/Sentai like in Kamen Rider and Super Sentai. It did take the west until the year of 1993 to experience the Tokusatsu concept. Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger. The 16th season of Super Sentai that helped revitalize the series, but also got the most infamous adaptation in the West as it adapted into Migthy Morphin Power Rangers.

Power Rangers would adapt the many Super Sentai seasons, but made a few exceptions. Power Rangers would mostly skip out Gosei Sentai Dairanger for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Season 2 except for the White Ranger suit and their giant Mechs which are known as Zords in the Power Rangers universe. They entirely skipped out 2014's Ressha Sentai ToQger due to the theme heavily being on Trains and imagination, so it only got adapted in Korea as Power Ranger Train Force. They also skipped out other seasons like Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger even though they missed out on a lot of money, and only got adapted in Korea as Power Rangers Animal Force (Get ready to see the Force part a lot). Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger Vs Keisatsu Sentai Patranger due to theme being Thieves vs Police (even though they adapted a Police season in 2005), and only in Korea as Power Rangers Lupin Force Vs Patrol Force. And none of the Reiwa Era Super Sentai seasons got adapted like Mashin Sentai Kiramager, Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger, Avataro Sentai Donbrothers, Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger, Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger and No.1 Sentai Gozyuger and only got adaptions in Korea. However, there is one Super Sentai season mostly skipped out on in Power Rangers that people were disappointed in.

Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger was season that came out in 2017 and it was only the mechs were used as the adaptation for Power Rangers Cosmic Fury. It also got a full adaption in Korea called Power Rangers Galaxy Force (Korea really love the Force, huh?). It is a series that is loved, but I only know it because people don't like the Comsic Fury as they are original suits to Power Rangers. I have heard and seen praise about the series itself, so I decided to watch the first epsiode and talk about it here.

EPISODE 1: The Greatest Superstars In The Universe

It starts off with kids in the playground having fun until a mystery army invaded Earth. Then we told that the 88 constellations that formed the Universe have fallen to the Space Shogunate called Jark Matter. A shogunate (or bakufu) were a hereditary military dictatorship in Japan as de facto power from 1192 to 1867 with the Emperor acting as a figurehead. The next scene we switch to is Planet Clothos where Jark Matter has attacked the planet. That is until three Kyutama Spaceships appeared to attack the Jark Matter and help the Clothonians These three appeared on our screen as Kyuranger number 7, 5 & 9 and are the first rangers.

In the middle of the group is Hammy, who has the Chamaeleon constellation. To her right is a man named Spada, and loves to cook. How do I know that? Simple. He refers to cooking a lot and has the Dorada constellation. The last one of the three is a Taurus type robot named Champ. He is very head strong about Justice and has the Taurus constellation. All three star change into their Kyuranger forms. Hammy is Chamaeleon Green, Spada is Dorado Yellow and Champ is Taurus Black. All three are just beating up the Jark Matter soldiers. We flash over to their ship called The Orion as they are reminded by a non-ranger member and seemingly the leader of the team named Raptor 283 to rescue the civilians.

The scene is in space as we see man in a space suit travelling on his vehicle, and then his vehicle malfunctioned after a meteor shower and was heading to the surface. We cut back to the Kyurangers saving civilians and Hammy pointed out that they are so many soldiers they have to fight on the ground to evacuate the civilians. It's really funny to hear that. Then a man in space came from the top rope and crash his vehicle on the soldiers below. He created a pathway for the Kyurangers to evacuate the civilians. As the Kyurangers and the civilians make way, two soldiers try to attack the man. The man ducked underneath and hit both with a Uppercut that sends them flying... And then the Kyuranger theme song played. That was a funny way to play to place an opening theme there, but I can' t complain since it is a great opening.

After the theme closes, we see the man on The Orion who we found that his name is Lucky eating Spada's food after a successful rescue. Lucky is from the Planet Luth as he travelled to the edge of the universe. Spada was surprised that he didn't get attacked by Jark Matter and Lucky didn't know who that is which surprised me. Spada told him to the story behind it and Raptor 283 further explained that they have formed a Rebellion to fight back against Jark Matter. And nine warriors are gonna be chosen by Kyu Globes or Kyutamas to save the universe. Meaning that there are nine rangers in the show. (Maybe I should have picked another series to start the show.) Only Hammy, Spada and Champ were gathered and must find the other six.

Lucky surprises everyone by showing off the Constellation blaster on his wrist (which is one of the Kyurangers' that he actually took), meaning he is the fourth Kyuranger found, but he doesn't have a Kyutama. So he stubbornly took his repaired bike and head to another planet to find a Kyutama. The next scene shows us the base of the Jark Matter as the Shogun of the Space Shogunate named Don Armage is chewing one of the generals, Eridron for being beaten by the Kyurangers. And Don made the order to eliminate the Kyurangers. The scene shifts to Lucky travelling to Planet Jugjug. His bike had trouble and fell down to the surface and got destroyed. (You know what? I see why it took Raptor longer to fix it.)

Lucky saw a blue Kyutama in front of him, only to attacked by a Wolfman. The wolfman was gonna double stomp Lucky until the rest of Kyurangers came in and broke up the fight. The scene shifts to a home where the wolfman whose name is Garu is holding his Kyutama with no reaction. He gives a warning to the Kyurangers that no one can beat the Jark Matter. Lucky calls him a coward and Garu fights him again. As Eridron and his troop arrive to Planet Jugjug to kill the Kyurangers, Garu and Lucky fight on the beach. During the fight, Garu explained that his clan fought against Jark Matter and all except Garu got killed. Lucky surprises him with a surge of momentum and won the fight. He gave him an encouraging speech to fight with everything he has.

The other Kyurangers noticed the Eridron and his troops on land and star change to fight. Lucky gets involve as he clutches one of the enemy ships that flings him into space. He should be dead and I am glad that the show acknowledges that and he is about to die. With all of the heart and determination, a Leo constellation appears as it combines into a Kyutama. Lucky travels back to the surface with a Meteor shower from the Leo constellation system and star changes into Leo Red. He and the rest of the Kyurangers are beating up the soldiers. Green, Yellow and Black hit their Galaxy attacks on the soldiers. As Red fights two monsters, a wave tide drags the monsters into the water. Then Red's Galaxy attack to destroy them is multiple meteor showers and a big meteor. Okay, that is a bit overkill if I have to be honest.

The Orion is being attacked, so Red, Green and Yellow head on their voyager mechs to fight the enemy ships. On the mainland, Taurus Black is fighting the soldiers as Garu watches on. After many war flashback and seeing Black's determination, he vowed to fight and tear down Jark Matter. He's Kyutama glows and he transformed to Lupus Blue. He and Black wipe out the remaining the soldiers and head to space in their voyagers. In space, Red, Green and Yellow combine their mechs to fight Eridron's ship. Eridron sends a big Kaiju and hits it the mechs to a snowy, icy planet. Luckily (no pun intended), Blue and Black arrive on their voyagers and combine to create Kyuren-Oh. Kyuren-Oh and the Kaiju fight on the planet and Kyuren-Oh hit the Star Break final attack to defeat the monster.

After their success, Luckily and Garu officially join the Rebellion. This means that they need to find four more heroes. The last scene is in some sort of part where a gold robot and a silver haired, stoic looking man look at some sort of wanted poster, where the Kyurangers are listed.

POST:

Well that was a crazy one. I can't get into the characters yet, but I am going to see if I can do more of these blogs. I have been a busy one lately, but it was a fun episode. Honestly if you want to continue and start another one alongside wrestling stuff, then I would be happy to do so. So I hope you are having a good day and continue the hunt. Sayonara!

Kind Regards,

ZERO (or Archer)
