The Gyan Revolution For Puroresu

There are a lot of people in the world of professional wrestling that you will like or don't like. It just depends on what are your tastes and your current life situation of what you promotion you want to access with the limit free time you have. However, there are wrestlers that have something about them that is always interesting which leads me to the subject of today's blog, Unagi Sayaka.

Unagi Sayaka is a 39 year old freelance wrestler that is known for her work in Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling and World Wonder Ring Stardom (STARDOM). She is a very successful freelancer and YouTuber with 114k subscribers and has produced many independent shows. One of the most infamous produced shows was One Match Event The Lord Is Crazy ~ My Name Is, where she was able to draw 1,603 fans to Korakuen Hall for one bout. Your eyes aren't deceiving you. She was able to draw that big of a crowd for one match, which was her and one of the greats in Joshi, Meiko Satomura. It shows the sheer ability and popularity she has. Especially since the fans love the ambition that she brings to both professional wrestling and having a successful YouTube career in the wrestling space.

This is a woman that I have been wanting to write about for almost 2 years. You might be thinking, why did it take you almost 2 years? Quite simple, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed and didn't know what to write about. But why Unagi specifically? This has more of an obtuse way of explaining it, but I'll try. I couldn't understand her and her goals maybe I'm not Japanese or I'm just a dumbass. I don't get her, but I want to understand her really. (This sounds really weird out of context.) I also found her to be quite anomaly. From what I have seen, she is someone I describe as Goofy Wrestling For Life. Don't get me wrong, I love Goofy Wrestling, and you can look on my ratings on certain bouts. It's just the fact that she has been able to Goofy Wrestling to higher level, which I find very admirable.

Also, I did a deep dive on Unagi Sayaka which is in my archive. It was when I was doing my background format before I broke down and genuinely, I don't want to go through that mess again. So this one will be different to what I have done before. I know that I say that every time, but I think you can spot the difference.

UNAGI SAYAKA - GYAN SPECIALTY PACK

Usually I bring up the wrestler's matches, rate them and give my thoughts, I'm taking a different direction with this one in particular. I am going to be talking about videos from Unagi Sayaka's official YouTube channel. Yes, you're eyes aren't deceiving you at all. I decided to sit down or lay down on my dysfunctional bed and watched some of her YouTube videos. Also, I am going to put them in chronological order in case there might be confusion. And I'm lucky that the Auto Artificial Intelligence tool allows me to name each video in English, even though it is not 100% accurate and it kinda sucks for audio presentation. (I watched it all in Japanese, btw.) But, I'm gonna put the dates for each one, so you can pinpoint them. The ones that I watched are strange, but that is part of the Gyan Charm man. LET'S GO!!

Tetsuya Naito's Assessment (Jun 17, 2025)

This is a video from what happened at the time of current freelancer. Unagi Sayaka and two other people I don't know of, were heading to the ice-cream to buy ice-cream. There was a long line and I mean really long, it went stretches past a whole building. This was because Tetsuya Naito was working there for a day or two and given that he is one of the most beloved wrestlers in Puroresu, it results in a long ass line and money for a business. Unagi Sayaka in full wrestling gear, went to the place Naito worked to have a chat and enjoy ice-cream. It is a fun video to start with so let's continue this trend.

"Turning all the women in Japan into muscular, macho men..." Interview with Kaho Kobayashi (Nov 18, 2025)

This video was part of a chain of videos to promote her self-produced independent show, Tono Wa Goranshin ~ Midori No Daichi Yo, Briefs Dake Wa. This video was Kaho Kobayashi being interviewed and it was only her answering questions. It was unique take and I realized that I don't understand her as well. I'm not making a blog on Kobayashi so don't even think about it.

I gave work to Tetsuya Naito and BUSHI, who went bankrupt (Dec 6, 2025)

This has a variety as it was Unagi Sayaka before she had a 8 person tag team match. She met up with Tetsuya Naito and BUSHI of Los Tranquilos de Japon. Or she kind of ambushed them of some kind. I think it was the first time that BUSHI is seen, but it was almost 6 months from her last interaction with Naito at that ice-cream shop. As the title suggests, she wanted to give both men work as she heard that they went bankrupt. I don't know where she heard that from, but sure, if you want to help them, then be my guest. This video is kind of funny because Naito and BUSHI basically just ignore her for the first 2 minutes, especially Naito. Once BUSHI spoke, then Naito spoke. In the end, Sayaka seemed like they convinced them or whatever I could gather from her facial expressions.

I went to play rock-paper-scissors with BUSHI and Kenoh was there (Dec 28, 2025)

The video starts with Unagi Sayaka, in full wrestling gear, running like she is Paul London on WWE SmackDown in the 2000s, so at least I know where this is going. She was at what seemed to be a pro wrestling merch store, where two wrestlers are arguing. One of them was BUSHI... again and at the time, GHC Tag Team Champion from NOAH, Kenoh. Kenoh is also known being an incredible pro wrestler and has been doing YouTube for years. He was filming as there was a cameraman whose face is obviously blurred for privacy reasons. They played rock, paper & scissors and it was promoting the GHC Tag Team title match with BUSHI & X (Tetsuya Naito) challenging the then champions Naomichi Marufuji and Kenoh. This had a charm of what I expected and it was fun That's it really.

I got on board Bushiroad (Jan 14, 2026)

This video features Unagi Sayaka going to the Bushiroad headquarters to meet with someone. That someone is Taro Okada, who is the President of STARDOM. You know, the wrestling company that she was lasted contracted to. It seemed like to be more of a business as well as to promote her February 1st Korakuen Hall show. This featured an appearance from Maki Itoh, who just signed with STARDOM at that point and was one of Sayaka's opponents for her Korakuen show. It was an odd conversation. They are chatting it up like buddies and Maki (jokily) talks about being a Bushiroad dog. Like what is going on? This was meant for laughs, which is the standard, so let's go.

[Announcement] I'm getting married at 39 years old. (Mar 19, 2026)

The most recent of Unagi Sayaka is her sitting with someone. I will assume it is in her own home and talking about marriage. Yes, you saw that right. Talking about marriage. The reason for this is simply because she kept dreaming about NJPW wrestler Shingo Takagi, and STARDOM wrestler Natsupoi getting married multiple times. And it seemed to be driving her up the wall. Also Shingo Takagi and Natsupoi are actually a married couple which shocked a lot of people including me and Unagi which caused those dreams. Dreams can be weird sometimes, so I am not gonna blame her. In the video, her staff member (as the person's name isn't mentioned), talks about her popularity and said staff member mentioned the Naito moments that I put down earlier. Unagi asked if people would think that they should marry, which is an odd question. The staff member said that the comments suggested that they should date each other.

Unagi responded by saying, "It makes no sense, right? You guys turning it into a joke, I'll never forgive you!" To her, it makes no sense to date Naito. (Why am I writing this?) I am sucker for romance given my dive in romance or romantic comedies. Now that she has put that statement into existence, I think that from content standpoint, it's really funny if they did. (Again, why am I writing this?)

(BONUS) The Old Hag Incident (ft. Mio Shirai & Sumire Natsu) (Jun 18, 2026)

BONUS TIME!! I was actually going to end it at the marriage part, but this one is too funny not to mention right here. There was a tag team match at SEAdLINNNG's June 17th show titled, SEAdLINNNG Early Summer Games 2025! (There is an exclamation mark in the name.) It featured then 38 year old Unagi Sayaka teaming up with then 25 year old Honori Hana. Keep the age of the people in mind, because it's important. Their opponents were then 32 year old Sumire Natsu, who, after watching a match of hers from P.P.P. TOKYO, I find to be complete buzzkill. Her partner was then 37 year old Mio Shirai, who is oldest sister to WWE Superstar IYO SKY if you are wondering.

You might ask me, "Why mention their ages?" Well it is simple. Before the match, Unagi was arguing with Shirai and Natsu. During the argument, a fan heckled, "Shut Up You Old Hags!" I have seen this heckle so many times in the Joshi sphere, especially with young wrestlers saying this to older wrestlers in terms of age. I always found it completely stupid, but how they reacted made me chuckle a bit. Once the three heard that, they immediately looked Honori as Shirai and Natsu attacked them as the match began. Shirai would take Sayaka to the outside and into the crowd, as they confront the fan. It's usual stuff, but I found an error that I noticed.

As Shirai and Sayaka were arguing with the heckling fan, the fan was obviously blurred for the reasons to not be featured. The blur would be positioned given the movement of the camera for the video. As the camera swayed, the blur actually moved away from the person. Meaning you can actually see what the person looks like from that angle. It's not one of those fasts as well, it is literally easy to pause and see from a normal speed. Like it is quite funny how I paused it and I'm not gonna say much. The rest of the video is highlights from the tag match.

Post: That is all I have for you guys today. This was honestly, a lot more fun than what I had expected. I never thought that I would be doing more YouTube videos about wrestling than the wrestling itself, but it was fun small dive. I was going to do something non-wrestling related, but that planned scraped. So that means I have two people left to go on my 2026 year blog list. I did Maya Yukihi and now, Unagi Sayaka. I hope you all enjoyed this blog and who do you think I should do next? As always, Bye Gyan.

Kind Regards,
