ROH WJCT Colony No.1 - Part 1: New Home
Ring Of Honor has to go down as one of the funniest promotions to watch. Especially in the Tony Khan Era, and I have made many insults and criticisms on this show and Khan in particular for baffling decisions, inconsistent stories with the occasionally good story and seeing his I Don't Give A Fuck style when it's obvious. So I am going to do something different as I will do some personal commentary on the matches on the shows. Given that I am an Intern until god knows what, I pre-written a lot of this alongside STARDOM shows during free time at work. I am going to do my usual match and opinions, but I will do it for every episode of ROH during their stay at WJCT Studios, as well as YouTube Special Episodes. The title is based off the Jujutsu Kaisen: The Culling Game - Tokyo Colony Five parter. So let's roll with it.
March 5th, 2026:
Persephone vs Sara Leon (5:48) - ★★★
Persephone taking on Sara Leon to kick off the show is an interesting choice. Usually you would want to start the first show in a new location on a high note. They did that during the Universal Studios stay, their stay at Esports Stadium in Arlington and the CMLL Expansion, so it's weird that we start here. This match was a fun way to start. Persephone is one of the best going right now, but Sara Leon has been an exciting prospect on the US and European Independent scene. Persephone won after hitting the Crucifix Bomb on Leon.
Komander vs Sidney Akeem (6:55) - ★★★3/4
Komander vs Sidney Akeem was a really good match that should've kicked off the show. Both men displayed athleticism and high flying that you would expect from these two. Akeem has been one of the most prominent features in Ring Of Honor TV who is not signe to the promotion. I do have a complaint in the fact that Komander's theme really sucks. An unnecessary theme song change.
Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin) vs Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson) (9:33) - ★★★1/4
This tag team bout was pretty basic. A predictable outcome with about as meat as the usual face and heel dynamic. Top Flight won, but there was a lot to be desired. There is a point that will mention later.
Paid In Full (Big Bill & Bryan Keith) vs Darian Bengston & Kiran Grey (2:49) - N/R (I don't rate bouts under 5 minutes)
As SkyFlight were leaving, Bill & Keith made their entrance for the next match. They were facing Darian Bengston and Kiran Grey and they destroyed them. The funniest part to me was Kiran Grey. This man made his debut in ROH and was hyped up as a mysterious person with untapped aura, only just to lose, lose and lose. He lost to Sammy Guevara, lost to Shane Taylor and got pinned here, so yeah.
Pure Rules: Josh Woods vs Nathan Cruz (4:23) - N/R (I don't rate bouts under 5 minutes)
Josh Woods return to the Pure Rules division. He was facing Nathan Cruz and yeah. The moment I hear that Crux doesn't have no Pure Rules experience, I knew he was gonna get demolished. Then Josh Woods won in 4 minutes which is surprising.
Tommy Billington & Adam Priest vs The WorkHorsemen (JD Drake & Anthony Henry) (7:48) - ★★★1/2
This was the culmination of the feud between Billington & Priest and The WorkHorsemen. Or more about Priest and The WorkHorsemen. Much like the many matches between these two teams whether that being singles or tags, this was a really fun tag team match. This could have been longer, but it served it's purpose. I will credit as this feud was a good way for Priest & Billington in this whole situation with Lethal Twist (Jay Lethal, Blake Christian & Lee Johnson) and ROH World Champion Bandido.
Mina Shirakawa vs Zayda Steel (7:48) - ★★1/2
This surprised me in a different way that is negative. It feels like that both women were having a bad day. They tried their best, but it didn't seem to click at all. It does show that even though wrestlers are incredible, but they are human beings. They are not perfect and it shows here.
Bang Bang Gang (Juice Robinson & Austin Gunn) vs MxM Collection (Mason Madden & Mansoor) (12:03)
This match was dragging a lot of the time. Usually I don't mind MxM Collection bouts especially given how formulaic they are every time. The problem is that it's so, SO long. This shouldn't be taking up 12 minutes of my TV time to end. Like if Ian Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman weren't funny throughout this and saved it from being a disaster, I would've rated this 2 stars. That is how much this dragged.
Lacey Lane vs Robyn Renegade (5:17) - ★★3/4
This was about as standard as Ring Of Honor can get. I think it's just that I have been watching the product for so long and understand this crazy man's booking philosophy that is in power scales, but it felt like meh. It didn't feel like much. The women's matches isn't bad, because they have the best maximization of their time with 5 - 8 minutes.
Matt Menard vs ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion Shane Taylor vs Lee Johnson vs AR Fox (13:36) → Four Leaf Corner, Four Corner Survival ~ Winner Receives Immediate Title Match - ★★★1/2
Four Corner Survival is usually Ring Of Honor's four way bouts. It's usually hyped up as a big deal no matter whose in it or how random it is. Once in a while, it's thrown in as a random match that is hyped up. This one however has an unique twist. This was an elimination match with the reward of an immediate title match for the winner. This match was really good, much like the rest of the fun matches on this show. I love these four men and one of the benefits of having it's own location to tape in is that we get long matches like this. AR Fox won the match and he faced...
Kazuchika Okada (c) vs AR Fox (5:44) → AEW International Championship Match - ★★★
Okada returned to Ring Of Honor for the first time in many years. Fox obviously had an obvious disadvantage having just competed a bout earlier and Okada being fresh. This match was longer than I expected with it being 5 minutes, but it was fun. Obviously, Okada won the match and retained the AEW International Championship.
Post: This episode was fine. It reminds me of the early episodes of Ring Of Honor in Universal Studios where they are more matches than the usual TV balance of segments and matches. At least they have a sense of direction like the Universal Studios, which is a weird positive. Anyway, I hope you have a good and great day. And I hope you have a great day.
Kind Regards,
ZERO (or Archer)
