Bratty Obstacles - Valkyrie 2K Story
The Valkyrie 2K story is one of those blogs that you can say, rejuvenated my blog after doing the ROH WJCT Colony series since that one is more a filler series that you can read if you have time. If you wondering, ROH WJCT Colony No.2 will be on its way especially since I have two Dynamic Thunder Connection parts to plan now that Ema Maishima is back. (And the fact I have been lazy with viewing a certain show.) Doing the first three episodes of the Valkyrie 2K story was a fun time. I tagged the creator on X, even though I missed up my statement while promoting the blog. The creator quoted:
"This is wild ✌ thank you so much for all the support. I am very thankful."
- Valkyrie 2K (@MadeInValhalla)
I know I said I wasn't going to do the series since it is 194 episodes after all, but the creator being makes me want to do as much as I can. So today, I am going to go through more episode until we stop at a certain amount of episodes that is part of an arc. Or I will do a two parter of this in case I'm very tired... Or a three parter.
Episode 4: Hell To Pay (Dec 8, 2019)
The episode starts off with a redheaded woman dragging another woman to the parking lot. The scene ends off with the redheaded woman power bombing the woman on a car. It shatters the glass as a result. I do like these scenes since it adds intrigue to the episodes for an arc. The scene flashes to earlier in the night, as Sarah Stevenson and Eve Taylor arrive at the high school, where the next SPW show is taking place. Given what happened with Raven Jarvela in the last episode, it's kinda funny that we are at a high school. The interviewer whose name is discovered later to be Kirk Maxwell comes in to ask questions. (And given recent events, I'm gonna refer to him as Maxwell.) Sarah Stevenson is making her debut for Suomi Pro Wrestling and he wanted to ask her thoughts.
Sarah didn't have much to say, but she will do her best as part of the SPW roster. Maxwell reminded us that Eve Taylor is the No.1 Contender to the SPW Women's Championship. Taylor said that she is focused on her upcoming title match and Jarvela should be worried about her title than her limousine. Honestly, I see the point of why Jarvela was upset, but attacking people isn't gonna get your limousine back.
The next scene is the wrestling match of the video. It is Sarah Stevenson making her SPW debut against a woman named Klara Muller. And interestingly, the same redhead lady we saw at the beginning is in her corner. Sarah seems to be getting the upper hand, which ties directly to the finish. The redhead wrestler grabs Sarah's foot as she is going off the ropes. That allowed Muller to put Stevenson in the Sleeper and got the submission victory. After the match, Stevenson walked to the locker room from gorilla position as Kirk Maxwell was also there to interview her.
As the interview goes on, Maxwell received word of scuffle happening in the parking lot. When he ask for the footage, it shows the scene from the beginning.
Episode 5: Thin Red Line (Dec 11, 2019)
The episode starts with an ambulance driving to the hospital. The woman who got attacked by the redhead woman in the last episode was Eve Taylor. Sarah Stevenson arrived at the hospital when she found out Taylor was the one who got attacked. Eve took it casually which makes her so awesome and cool for that. The reason why she got attacked was because of Raven Jarvela and the situation with her wrecked limo. I swear that woman really is that hell bent on not taking anger management classes.
So it seems that the redhead woman (her name isn't seen so far) is associated with Raven Jarvela in a way. Maybe Episode 6 can clear this up. If that is actually the case, then it makes sense given her character. Speaking of Raven Jarvela, the next scene is the match of the video. Jarvela defeated a nameless jabroni who she just beats up afterwards. Post match, she would grab the mic to cut a promo. She basically revealed that Eve Taylor's attack to the "coward" who burnt her limousine and she has given the perpetrator one more week to reveal themselves or there will be consequences.
Episode 6: Loose Ends (Dec 29, 2019)
The episode starts with Sarah and Ryan walking up a snowy hill to a cottage of some kind. Ryan is the one who brought her up here to tell her something. This reveals that it was Ryan who burnt Raven Jarvela's limousine to a crisp. The reason is that Jarvela ruined Sarah's debut match with the constant interferences. Sarah points out that burning her limousine does nothing, and Ryan agreed, but he felt good doing. Seems like you didn't realize about the consequences that will happen to your sister, didn't ya Ryan?
The next scene is a match on SPW. Eve Taylor won her first match back following her attack. She cut a promo after the match that will beat Raven Jarvela for the SPW Women's Championship at SPW Whiteout. Jarvela interrupted her by making her entrance. She said that she was sorry that she got her powerbombed on the car and said it was nothing personal. I find that to be obvious bullshit, but whatever. Taylor responded with the Botchamania special and said, "Raven... You Talk Too Much." You Talk Too Much, You Never Shut Up.
After another Jarvela talk it all tale, she surprises Taylor by spiking her head with a DDT. Jarvela stands over her with the SPW Women's title. In the usual Wrestling Rule book 101, this is usually a bad sign for a wrestler.
Episode 7: Stray Bullet (Jan 5, 2020)
The kicks off right into the action as Sarah Stevenson faces off against the redhead who we finally found out her name is Sofia Weber. As much as Sarah is trying, Weber is dominating her in the ring. Then the scene shifts back to earlier in the day.
Sarah Stevenson is meeting up with a representative from the SPW management. She was told that her debut match was a commercial success despite the fact she lost to Klara Muller. The reason is she is a breathe of fresh air in a division filled with "sociopaths". His words, not mine. However, he does think that the name Sarah Stevenson is "too long" and wants another one. Meanwhile, Sofia Weber is talking with the champion Raven Jarvela backstage at SPW. Yep, there are indeed allies. She is frustrated that Klara Muller is banned from the building for her match against Sarah Stevenson. They both mock Sarah for being a rookie and Jarvela wants Weber to hurt her. Seems like she has taken a training course with The Hurt Syndicate.
The scene shifts to later in the day and back to the bout between Stevenson and Weber. Eve Taylor made her entrance to interrupt the match. It was enough of a distraction for Stevenson to do the O' Connor Roll into a Bridging Pin to get her 1st victory. That was a big deal for the protagonist to get a victory.
Episode 8: High Stakes (Jan 12, 2020)
The episode starts on the latest SPW show as Sarah Stevenson comes out to cut her first promo in the promotion. She said that she is tired of Raven Jarvela attacking all the wrestlers to find out who destroyed her limo. Sarah said that she was the one who destroyed it. However, if you watched Episode 6, you would know that it was her brother Ryan who torched it and she just took the blame. Jarvela obviously came out after hearing that and wondered what took Sarah so long. She also said there will be consequences for Sarah Stevenson.
What did Sarah do? She just left the ring and suspiciously, Jarvela didn't do anything. That is because Sofia Weber comes up from behind and hits Sarah with a baseball bat. Pfft. This is so funny to me. Keep in my mind, Weber is muscular and tall as hell and needs a bat to take out someone smaller than her. Like if that ain't funny, I don't know what is. After using the bat, she proceeded to powerbomb Sarah five times on the steel part of the rampway. Talk about overkill. And mind you, her brother torched the limousine. The scene then shifts to earlier in the day.
Sarah took Eve Taylor to a museum on their day off. Eve finds this quite boring and wanted to be somewhere else. This scene reveals that Sarah is a fan of Norse Mythology and loves historical events or sites. She also wanted to discuss about changing her name with Taylor. Sarah suggested "Skeggjold" because she was a Valkyrie. I could say this would be related to the 13 sisters of Valkyrie, but I don't know for sure. Taylor suggested Valkyrie because it is short and straight to the point. So the name that is synonymous with our protagonist comes from... a Museum. That is the most on character thing ever.
Two days later, Raven Jarvela meet with SPW management to talk about Sarah "torching" her limo. The representative, however, does think Sarah torch the car. Much like Nick Khan, he see evil and he knows it wasn't her. That has got to be the most realistic thing that will never be in the public eye. Despite having a match on Pay Per View, Jarvela wants Weber to face Sarah at SPW Whiteout. The representative just tells her to get out of his office.
Episode 9: Escalation (Jan 19, 2020)
The episode starts with action on SPW as it's the newly named Valkyrie facing one of the SPW roster members. They were having a good back and forth until the scene shifts to earlier in the day. I'm... not a fan of that. I understand that it worked in previous episodes, but it was not needed here as it takes away from the action. Like if the episode started with the earlier in the day scene, then this episode would be done well instead of being an interruption.
It's 9 am as Eve Taylor walks down the halls to Valkyrie's hotel room. As Valkyrie is awake and still in her underwear, because Eve would bring that up, she was wearing a vest / under shirt that has graphic of Tokyo, Japan. It is foreshadowing what happens in future episodes, but if you were watching at the time, you wouldn't realize that. Eve Taylor would have a conversation with Valkyrie and reminded her that they need to have each other's backs. Especially at SPW Whiteout.
The scene shifts back to the action, as Valkyrie and her opponent are laying it on the line. The match would end as she hits a running knee strike that is also synonymous as her primary finishing move, the Angel's Mercy. She gets the win in a convincing fashion. The celebration didn't last long as Sofia Weber attacks her out of nowhere. She would end the beatdown by hitting her trademark Powerbomb on Valkyrie as the episode ends.
The next two episodes will be focusing on one match in particular and it has to best explained in my ways I can possibly try to do.
Episode 10: To Hell And Back (Jan 27, 2020)
The episode starts backstage at the SPW Whiteout PPV as Eve Taylor is checking up on a banged up Valkyrie. Valkyrie says that the doctor has cleared her to compete which is surprising given what has happened over the past few weeks. We as the audience find out from Taylor that the match between Weber and Valkyrie will be in a Hell In A Cell. Now wait a minute, when was that announced. I didn't get the updated patch notes. What the hell? Anyway, Eve Taylor encourages Valkyrie to pull through to get the victory in her match.
During the scene, the general manager of SPW comes in with a folder. He had exciting news for Valkyrie as there is another stipulation added to her Hell In A Cell match and handed her the folder. Valkyrie opened it and saw a Number One Contender's fight. This means whoever wins in the fight between Weber and Valkyrie, will be the next challenger for the winner of Raven Jarvela or Eve Taylor for the SPW Women's Championship. Eve is shocked, but excited at the prospect of facing her friend for the top prize if she beats Jarvela. Valkyrie quickly brings her back to reality that they both have to win their matches for that can happen. Taylor is motivated and thinks that this is their night.
It's now time for the Hell In A Cell match between Sofia Weber and Valkyrie and the winner is the next challenger for the SPW Women's Championship. The fight kicks off in Weber's favour as she is taking complete control early in the bout. Valkyrie got out of the Bear Hug and hit the Satellite DDT on Weber, but she got taken down again. After attacking her in the corner, Weber goes out of the ring and sets up a table on the outside. She tried to Superplex Valkyrie on the table, but our protagonist punched her in the midsection to escape her grip. She also proceeded to kick Weber off the turnbuckle and through the table on the outside and rolls back in the ring.
Episode 11: All Out (Feb 2, 2020)
The next episode continues from where we left off as Valkyrie keeps attacking Weber and even dives on Weber, sending her back first into the Cell. Now that is putting your body on the line. Okay, let me stop myself. Also for fun fact: The Cutscene footage from this fight is modded version of the Sasha Banks vs Charlotte from Hell In A Cell 2016 fight which was in the WWE 2K20 showcase mode. They kept trying to slam each other on the folded out chair, and Valkyrie was able to do by Drop Toe Holding Weber on the chair.
The next big breakthrough was on the outside. After being kicked face first into the Hell In A Cell, Weber sees a running attack and scoops Valkyrie over her, thinking she was gonna crash into the Cell, but no. Valkyrie holds on the cell at a high angle like she is Spider-Gwen and proceeded to hit a Meteora to Weber on the floor. From there, Valkyrie was on another element and taking it to Weber. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end as Weber hits her Sit Out Powerbomb and she picks up the victory. Sofia Weber is the brand new No.1 Contender for the SPW Women's Championship. She celebrates as the episode ends.
Wow, talk about an intense way to do a wrestling two parter. It is obviously a mix of it's own footage and adapting the 2K20 showcase, and it does a well enough job. The booking of Valkyrie losing is very mixed in my opinion. When I watched this the first time, I didn't mind it. But now that I have caught up with the series and seeing many times that I see Valkyrie losing big matches, it felt like foreshadowing. From a storyline perspective, it made sense for Valkyrie to lose given how banged up she was. But I don't think she gets her win back which makes this strange. I was going to explain this later, but I am gonna say it here. Valkyrie is what I describe as Suffering Builds Character and watching this series, it's best way I can describe her big matches.
If you think that the blog ends there, it doesn't. There is one more episode to cover for today.
Episode 12: The Day After (Feb 9, 2020)
The episode starts with a calm and lovely atmosphere as we are at Valkyrie's apartment with her and Eve Taylor. It was disappointing night for both of them as they both lost their matches. Valkyrie isn't deterred by the loss and is determined to take the fight to Jarvela, Weber & Muller. Eve, however, is upset that Valkyrie didn't come out to help in her title match. Now look, usually I would agree, but ma'am. Valkyrie was in badly damaged following a Hell In A Cell fight with a woman that is the Finnish version of Bozilla. Like, cut her some slack. Jeez. Eve has the audacity to dismiss this like it's an excuse. Are we deadass? She even leaves, saying she can't trust Valkyrie anymore like you're one to talk.
Like seriously, this woman only helped out Valkyrie once and it was for her 1st victory. Besides that, Valkyrie got her ass whooped throughout the build up to this and where was Eve Taylor during those jumping sessions? Nowhere to be seen. I never expected this woman to piss me off. Anyway, the next scene is Valkyrie at a bar and coincidentally, she bumps into Sofia Weber. The reason why Weber is here is to celebrate becoming the No.1 Contender. She immediately mocked her and it led to bar fight. Valkyrie released all her anger to get the upper hand. What makes this incredible? Valkyrie grabs a chair and proceeds to beat the shit out of Sofia Weber. Talk about a one sided ass whooping.
Valkyrie ends this by bitch slapping her for maximum disrespect and walked out the bar as the episode ends.
Post: That was a good way to end this second blog on the Valkyrie 2K. Rewatching this web series after binging every single episode gives me a different perspective in comparison to the first time. Also Valkyrie giving Sofia Weber maximum disrespect by the way she ended that bar fight is something I don't remember at all. It shows that Valkyrie has limits and she can be a crazy when those limits were reached. Also I do like how her GTA footage link up with her 2K footage in the series and I do hope she implants this in the current year series to do more outside of the box stories. Like I don't mind waiting for an episode given I can imagine, how long it is, but it is quite the treat if it gets back to some arcs having those stories.
I didn't expect Eve Taylor to make me mad, given that I liked her in the first viewing. And I hope it gets better in the following episodes. (Let's hope I didn't speak to soon.) Anyway, I hope you have a good day and hope to see you guys next time. BYE!!
Kind Regards,
ZERO (or Archer)
