Kamen Rider Geats #0: Prelude To The Invitation

Alright. This show is in the Tokusatsu genre and if you want a more in depth look on me explaining the genre, you can read my blog on the first episode of Uchu Sentai Kyuranger. I know I shouldn't really do another Tokusatsu series since I haven't passed Kyuranger episodes yet, but this morning had me contemplating this one more than coming into work. Keep in mind, I barely slept since 1 AM to try my OBS Studio software. Well not really, my body is struggling to adapt to being worker. To check their own I guess.

I have been watching Kamen Rider for quite a while and there is one show I've seen praised that I have been unwillingly to watch because of the concept. That show in particular is called Kamen Rider Geats. The best way I or even many people online can describe this show is that it's Fortnite. And you'll be quite surprised to know that I'm not fan of death games... at all. The first and only Death Game show I watched in full was Future Diary (or Mirai Nikki).

Death Games Break My Interest In A Show
Future Diary (or Mirai Nikki) is manga and anime series that is known for popularizing the Yandere character archetype while revolutionizing the battle royale/death game genre in anime. I watched this anime a few years ago and it's probably the worst anime I have ever watched. I did love the Death Game structure especially the DEAD END moments, but the writing, some of the characters and many, many things made this infuriating to watch. By the time I finished this, I wanted to bash my head through a wall with how much this pisses me off. It really made my blood boil to rage.

The funniest thing is that I'm glad it is not a hot take because the amount of YouTube videos I've seen detailing this anime is hilarious. I will tell that. [Future Diary Spoilers from here onwards] Yukiteru Amano who is the main character, and this is going to be a hot take, I really never hated him until one specific episode after what his dad did to his mom. I could sympathize because imagine bein thrusted into a Death Game where your opponents are: a Genius Baby, a Chief Inspector of Police, Yandere By Your Hip, a Serial Killer, a Terrorist, a Politician, a Freaky Cult, a Billionaire, a Crazy Couple, etc. Like I would be scared too bitch, the FUCK?!

Anyway, the overall feeling from Future Diary extends to many shows with a Death Game concept. My Interest immediately goes down for that show as a result. The main reason is why my interest for Jujutsu Kaisen: The Culling Game has gone down is simply because it's a Death Game. And Future Diary floods back into my mind as a result. This does lead me back to Kamen Rider Geats as you might be wondering why am I even doing this blog.

Why I Am Doing Kamen Rider Geats?
Kamen Rider Geats is a fundamentally a death game with how its described by many, especially since I just watched 1st episode. There are a few things reasons why I wanted to do this. The main two are:
  1. I would not watch this on my own time because of the reasons I mentioned, so I'm doing a blog about it.
  2. I want to see if my perspective on Death Games can changed by watching this show.

So that is the reason as why I am doing this really. I have been watching three Kamen Rider shows, that being W (Double), Zero-One and Build. Now that I'm adding another Kamen Rider show to my already filled up schedule.

Post: This was initially meant to be my perspective on the Death Game genre alongside writing about the first episode, but I decided to make the first episode its own blog as I was writing this show. This will be another blog in my published collection. I think I'll do other kinds of TV shows that aren't just web series or Tokusatsu once I finish one of them. I hope you all enjoy this and I'll see you next time. Henshin!

Kind Regards,
ZERO (or Archer)
