Saori Anou: Whom I Once Feared, Now I Follow

I have written about many wrestlers in this series on my blog. Some were fun and some were a lot more unorthodox. Which is always the thing you'd come to expect from myself. But seriously, doing 13 matches for the Hazuki one was absolutely diabolical. Maybe I should have cut some of those bouts from that list.

Today is a blog focused on someone that I didn't think about surprisingly enough. Someone who have a mentioned multiple times in a way that is funny to re-explain. I decided to reach out to the usual partner of the blog, Mihaawk and I was provided with some premium content. Someone who once scared me to the point of having a nightmare about her. [I do implore you to read her section on the Cinderella Tournament blog to get the context.] And a woman who is great and elegant behind her motionless and psychotic stare.

And her name... is Saori Anou.

This match was fantastic in ways that I can't even explain. The focus on this bout focuses on their knees and how one limb can affect their entire game plan. I will admit that Anou had put more focus on her knee than Starlight, but it added to the match. There was a German Suplex Anou did to Kid and usually, Anou would do a bridge into a pin. In this case, Anou immediately crumpled when trying the bridge or had to lift one leg up. That is an amazing detail. Starlight Kid retained the title after submitting Anou with the Black Tiger Leg Killer.

  • Frozen or Melted: Saori Anou froze her way to a draw with the Powerhouse.

It's quite a rarity to see Joshi vs Gajin matches as part of these blogs, but this was a treat. Saori Anou is in a rare case of her being the David to Bozilla's Goliath in the 5STAR GP. It did make for a great match as Bozilla brought the chaos as The Biggest European Powerhouse. Anou was doing her best to adapt to Bozilla's size and ability which led to a big German Suplex (no pun intended) to a huge pop. Really good match and I hope to see more Gajins like Bozilla in STARDOM.

Seems like the Mi Vida Loca bouts are continuing as her opponent is the leader of MVL, Suzu Suzuki. This was initially supposed to be their match from ICE RIBBON, but I couldn't find it so I decided to pick this one instead. This was a take on the classic, "Let's just beat the shit out of each other" method. And they accomplished the mission with one of the best sub 15 minute matches that I have seen so far.

  • Frozen or Melted: Saori Anou froze Mika Iwata to get her Wonder Of Stardom Title and her new piece of gold.

This was the first match I have ever watched for both of these women, so I remember this more fondly than others. I was aware of the build up before the match happened when Mika Iwata beat Saori Anou to capture the Wonder Of Stardom Title. It was rare sight to see an outsider with one of their top titles so it caught my interest. The match in SENJO was just violence as they both seem to want to knock each other out. Saori Anou would recapture the Wonder belt and took the Sendai Girls World Title. Nice way to be introduce to her and I think this is where my fear came from.

The final night of last year's 5STAR GP was a night of many things. The most notable things from this show was Sareee vs Konami, AZM vs Rina and Momo Watanabe having her crowning moment by defeating AZM in the Final. There is one match that is under the radar and it's the 2nd Semifinal between Momo Watanabe and Saori Anou. This match was shorter than the last match, but it was a really good way to set the tone for the night. It didn't help that it was after AZM vs Rina, but this match should be talked about more often.

Goddamn it. I love Giulia so much. I am thinking about making a blog of her runs as WWE Women's United States Champion, but I will be raging inside to the point that I will not be able to finish it. You will not understand the levels of anger I have towards this belt. This was also 15 minutes which is strange that I have the same thing again, but it's so good that I don't care. Giulia brought the chaos to match Anou's psychotic flair as both women battled until it reached 15 minutes. I see why this match is rated highly.

  • Frozen or Melted: Saori Anou melted in the wake of her fading leader. 
  • ZERO: ★★★★★1/2
To end things on a high note is Saori Anou taking on Tam Nakano in one of Tam's final matches of her career. This match was quite more a beautiful display with both women going all out with a leader leaving it all before her eventual escape of reality. The picture perfect moment was the slap exchanges and how hard those slaps were. I wince on every one and it felt like a spectacle. Probably my favourite Tam Nakano match that I have ever seen. Man... I wished I discovered Joshi wrestling sooner.

SOOOOOOOOOOO... I was actually planning do something that is WWE related, but I decided to stop it, track back and talk about STARDOM.
