The Trailblazer: Alexander Barclay #2 - Lasting Long (FIFA 16 My Career Mode - The American Legend)

The last time, I talked about the first ever episode of the Alexander Barclay - My Player Mode from BFordLancer. It was the first episode of the beloved My Player franchise. So I decided to continue with this as much as I can. So let's continue with the aspiring American in the country of England.

Episode 2: New Wardrobe
The episode starts with Barclay walking to a clothing store to update his wardrobe. I like the detail of him going to a low level thrift store as suppose to something fancy. To be fair, the new outfit is basically a new golf shirt and shorts. He looks likes he is going to golf at a country club, so I don't get the change to be honest. It does lead to the first game of the episode as Portsmouth faces Leyton Orient.


In the 13th minute, Barclay gets clobbered with by Mathieu Baudry. At he noticed the pattern with these games. In the 88th minute, Barclay got substituted and it started the first... story arc, I guess. The game ended 0 - 0. The arc focuses on stamina and I am glad it is touched on. As much as footballers can do crazy skills, there are human beings who can get tired, so I am glad this has a story arc of some kind.


This ties in as Barclay went out jogging and it led to an away game as Portsmouth face Newport County. It didn't start too well as in the 40th minute, Klukowski scored a header from a free kick to get Newport the 1 - 0 lead. Despite many goal scoring opportunities, Portsmouth wouldn't be able to get one as Newport won the game by 1 - 0 as the video comes to an end.

Episode 3: Benched
Episode 3 starts off with Alexander going to a shop to buy drinks and snacks before practice. I do find it funny that the past two episodes, he has been doing random things. While he was in there, he checked his phone and saw a report of himself. It was about not being able to meet the manager's expectations. It is weird though given that he could ask about it, but it is fine for what it was.


Barclay would be on the bench for the next 4 games. And since it is FIFA 16, this was before they added the feature of being a substitute and playing, which took until FIFA 21 for some reason. Portsmouth won against Stevenage [Home 2 - 1], Carlisle United [Away 1 - 2], York City [Home 1 - 0] and drew to Barnet [Away 2 - 2]. Barclay would be out and about with a teammate and his nerves were calm as we lead to the first game of the episode against Morecambe. 


It started on the right foot for Portsmouth as Barclay passes from inside the box to Davies which led to a top corner screamer. It is 0 - 1 to Portsmouth heading into the half time break. In the second half, Barclay got taken out by Devitt, but for some reason, Barclay got the yellow card instead. It is weird because he got clobbered with that tackle, so yeah. After that, he got substituted and that was it. It ties to his stamina which is quite a nice story arc to follow.


He would be benched in the next round of the Capital One Cup and Portsmouth lost to Norwich 3 -1. The next game would be against Northampton at home. In the 68th minute, Barclay would take advantage of an early corner kick to cut inside close into the 5 yard box to score a really good goal. This is the second goal of his career and Portsmouth would be up by 1 - 0. That good feeling didn't last as he got subbed out at the 76th minute. Which is kind of sad. He did earn of the match as they won, so it wasn't all sad.


The last scene shows Barclay walking back to his apartment and he is thinking about buying a car which is going to be the lifestyle arc of the next episode. These outside of football stories is just like Sims on fast forward on Grand Theft Auto for some reason. So yeah, that's it.


Post: This was surprisingly different to the rest I have done so far, as I did two episodes today since it is quite short. I am surprised to be able to make these blogs so far which has been a plus.
