Kamen Rider Geats #1: Daybreak F: Invitation To The Rider
It's time to step into the realm of whether or not a Death Game based can change my mind on the concept as we will be diving into the show in the long line of the 55 year franchise, Kamen Rider Geats.
If you have seen my prelude blog, then you already know my feeling on the Death Game concept. If you haven't seen it, then you check it out after reading this one. Without further a due, let's get into it.
The first scene following that is 5 people are in the room being interviewed. A man named Keiwa Sakurai was asked why did he apply to be part of their business. He said that he wanted to contribute to society and make the world better. He answered with more broad answers to the next set of questions, which the company man says he won't survive the world with answers like that.

Episode 1: Daybreak F: Invitation To The Rider
The episode begins with a man standing by the beach flipping a coin. A woman wearing a white fur coat with black and white gloves walks up to him with tool like box. She said that he will be a Kamen Rider starting today. The man replied by saying he has been aware of that. The Kamen Rider Geats logo appears to signal the start of the show.

He said that he wanted to contribute to society and make the world better. He answered with more broad answers to the next set of questions, which the company man says he won't survive the world with answers like that.
The scene switches to a different realm as we are shown a scoreboard with only 3 remaining participants. The host wonders who will be the God Of Desire and change the world in their own image. We switch back to Keiwa chatting to his sister on the phone and they met up in a restaurant for some dinner. Keiwa orders Tanuki Soba, which we learn that he loves Tanuki Soba.
His sister is watching a live streamer named Kurama Neon. Neon is a rich girl who is live streaming herself trying to run away from home. Two high school girl fans spot her and are happy to see her in public. Suddenly, two security guards appear out of the nowhere and are tasked to bring her home. I'm calling them, Mr. Black and Mr. White, because they are literally a Black man and a White man, which reminds me of Christian Antwan quote from his Choujuu Sentai Liveman review. "A White Person!" (Christian Antwan)
Back at the restaurant, Keiwa and his sister were about to eat until a red barrier flash in between them and bits of the hot food splashed into his face. His sister tried to reach out, but the barrier prevented that. Suddenly, a monster busts in the restaurant and instantly killed the worker. The monster couldn't attack Keiwa's sister, but could attack him. Keiwa receives a cut on his cheek and managed to escape as we cut back to that realm. The mission has been assigned and all three put on their Desire Drivers.
The city itself is under attack as these monsters are on a killing spree. The barrier also makes it easier for them as the civilians couldn't run far. Mr. Black and Mr. White protect Neon so she can escape. When she finds cover, she bumps into Keiwa. They couldn't chat for long as the monsters appear to attack. They eventually get cornered and were about to get killed until a Bear Kamen Rider shoots them down with a bow and an arrow.
A Bull Kamen Rider appears and wipes the floor with the monsters. More monsters appear to attack and the Polar Bear led Keiwa and Neon to safety. The Bear led Keiwa and Neon up to a high building. The Bear un-henshins and the duo thanked them. The Bear man explained that he used to be firefighter. However, the Bull Kamen Rider appears and un-henshined to say the Bear man only saved them to secure points which left them confused.
Keiwa had enough and demanded to know what is going on. The Bull man only said, "This world is coming to an end." Suddenly, an alien space fortress appears and wiped out the Bear man as he was henshining. The Bear man dies and the Bull is just laughing at him. Keiwa is appalled by this, but the Bull man says that he has more things to worry about. He leaves as the alien fortress starts terrorizing the buildings. The building Keiwa and Neon were on also had been attack and Neon was falling from the edge. Keiwa tried to catch her, but couldn't reach her in time.
Luckily, the third man flies in on his motorcycle and saved Neon from landing to her death. He removes his helmet and Neon thanks him. The man says that she should forget about this world until Keiwa comes down to check on her. The man looked disappoint and thought Neon and Keiwa were dating which they quickly deny the fact. The man followed up with by saying, "You can always change the world if you keep trying." Keiwa had lost hope and disagreed with that notion.
The man started talking about the dinosaurs that went extinct millions of years ago. He mentioned that we should give life another try. And as the monsters appear, he henshins and turns into Fox based Kamen Rider. He wipes the floor with every single one of them and even defeats the Final Boss with a really sick Rider Kick. He won the challenge and has become the new God Of Desire. We also find that his name is Ace Ukiyo and he is known as Kamen Rider Geats. Yep. He is the main character.
After the battle, Keiwa asked what is happening. Ace just says it's a game to rewrite the world and the new world has already begun. Then the world suddenly starts to repairs itself and go back to normal. The next scene sees Keiwa waking up in his room. Seems like everything was a dream. Later in the day, he went to the same restaurant and ordered Tanuki Soba. He asked the worker a question and it was jokingly brushed off.
As Keiwa was eating, the same woman from the beginning of the episode appears once again. She says that starting today, he is an official Kamen Rider and has been given a tool like box. The scene transitions to her handing various people the same box as they are chosen to be Kamen Riders. A housewife, a salaryman, a high school girl, a construction worker, etc. Even Neon has been chosen to be a Kamen Rider. The last human scene is Ace Ukiyo saying, "Welcome... To my world." He flips a coin as transitions to the next scene.
The last scene is one of the rules of the game and it says the moment you receive a driver and a ID core, it's a one way trip.
Post: I have heard about Kamen Rider Geats when I started taking an interest in the series. This was more of a rewatch since I watched the episode a long time ago. I lost my interest when I knew about the death game concept. This was a fun rewatch and I won't lie, now realizing that Ace Ukiyo is the main character, I find it really lame. Maybe because that I am so used to underdog main characters, but I don't see him as a main character. Keiwa or Neon or even both of them seem to have more potential as main characters than Ace in my opinion. It's only episode 1 though so let's see if my perspective can change as I watch the series.
The next blog on Kamen Rider Geats is going to take a bit of time and quite the binge, but I'll make sure to keep doing this. This show does seem fine so far. I hope you all have a good day and I'll see you next time. HENSHIN!
