The Television Wrestler Experiment (Maxxine Dupri's WWE Women's Intercontinental Title Reign)

Alright everyone, I am back. I have been very busy lately, which is why I haven't been able to do any blogs lately. And I have been doing my best to keep up with wrestling with some sneaky ways, of course. So today will mark an interesting arc in my Field Journey blog as I will be doing a Filler Arc. This will be a way to make up for the lack of content over the past 6 days while trying to make a new schedule for my life.

I just need to watch certain fights and catch up on some shows to keep the everything flowing without anything dry. So today will be my very first WWE blog as I will talk about Maxxine Dupri's 49 day reign as WWE Women's Intercontinental Champion.

When it comes to the women's division on both RAW and SmackDown, it's very weird and unfortunate odd ball. I don't know about you, but the RAW before Backlash having no women's matches is diabolical. Maybe this is a way of moving the division forward I guess.

However, one of the titles that has an interesting position around it is the WWE Women's Intercontinental Championship. The current champion is Sol Ruca, who dethroned 3-Time Champion Becky Lynch at the most recent Clash In Italy event. The title has had an interesting history since its inception.

Lyra Valkyria was the definition of a TV Champion with Becky Lynch becoming the second champion in their feud. Becky Lynch is most prominently known with the title as I mentioned before that she is a 3-Time champion. To become a three champion, you'd to have lost it twice. The most recent was Sol Ruca, but the first one who Becky lost it to is remembered for either right or wrong reasons.

Maxxine Dupri became the 3rd Champion in the title's lineage and remembered this having a negative reception online, well, yeah. This is mainly because of the champions that came before her or something that I don't know. Honestly, I was intrigued by the change at the time. Maxxine Dupri is someone who has almost 3 years of experience in wrestling., debuting on the main roster and working through the lower to midcard.

I know that I haven't been as tapped in with WWE as I used, but I'll try to get a neutral point across before I do something really stupid. Plus this doesn't make me angry than the next WWE title reign I will cover next. So let's roll with it.

Becky Lynch and Maxxine Dupri's Feud
Before I start with the usual title reign breakdown, I have to explain the feud between her and Becky Lynch. Becky Lynch was reigning as champion for a lot of time. She concluded her feud with first champion Lyra Valkyria, and was more of a standard TV champion you'd want to see.

The first these two faced off was on the Aug 11, 2025 edition of Monday Night RAW. It was 5 and a half minute title fight which ended with Lynch retaining. Their feud wouldn't start officially until 2 months later in the year. Their second match would be longer than their first, cracking in at 13 - 14 minutes with Dupri shocking winning by count out.

Two weeks later, their second title fight would happen once again. This was where Maxxine Dupri would shock the world and finally defeated Becky Lynch... by Disqualification. 27 days later and now it's time for their 3rd title bout. Now, let's officially roll with it.

Becky being in Maxxine during the introductions made me laugh out loud. I don't know why this is so funny, but its just hilarious. The match was actually fun to watch with limb work from both of them. The match focused on Lynch being the dominant one while Dupri was fighting from underneath.

I really loved the spot where Dupri did a bridge to attempt an escape from the Juji-Gatame (Armbar), only for Lynch to keep ahold of the submission. The bout ended with an AJ Lee distraction and Crossbody from Dupri for her to capture her first title in her professional wrestling. career. Now that the reign started, it already has a built in premise for it.

Dupri proving that she is the same person that has beaten a WrestleMania main eventer in Lynch and not some flop rookie who got lucky. And her winning via the Crossbody is outdated for modern day standards, but correct me if I'm wrong, the Crossbody has been built as one of her primary finishing moves. So let's continue with this reign.

This match really solid. Really, really solid. These two have history with each other as it plays on the story of how Chad Gable betrayed the Alpha Academy which led to the formation of American Made. Nile brings the element out of power which makes this unique to the previous match.

Maxxine Dupri is really fun here. The ankle lock has really been presented as a main weapon of her arsenal. There are three memorable I remember really well. The Dragon Sleeper that Nile did to Dupri while she had her in the Tree Of Woe was gnarly. Dupri doing a Belly-To-Belly Suplex from the Tree Of Woe. And Dupri countering Nile's attempt at Hirmou Takahashi's TIME BOMB 2.

This ended with Dupri syncing in a deep Ankle Lock until Nile taps out. Dupri reaches her first V1 as champion.

This is way better match than their first match. This match has a formula of where both wrestlers learned from their first match to counteract each other in this one. The double stomp Becky did Dupri in the first match, Dupri escaped in this one. Becky actually taking her seriously and full focused on her and Jessika Carr.

Dupri seeing Becky escape her Ankle Lock and kept going for the ankle is such good instincts from her. Lynch would be on the backfoot as her leg was more damaged here than the first match. However, Lynch in the first match in a way that helped her get the victory. She did the same rollup while in the Ankle Lock, but this time, she held on the nearby rope to get the three and become the 4th and first ever 2-Time WWE Women's Intercontinental Champion.

This match was really good match and it makes it 3 - 2 for the record between them at this point. I know that they would face each other again during Lynch's 2nd second reign which makes the record 3 - 3.

Post Capriiiiiii Time!!
Okay, that was really fun I guess. Nah. Who am I kidding? This was a fun reign to talk about. It is a bit difficult to give my full thoughts since I haven't much of the television program at this point, but it was set of matches. This marks the end of the Maxxine Dupri's title experiment and I'm surprised hasn't tried this type of thing again.

I understand establishing a title's credibility, but these types of reigns is the test for midcarders who haven't had a hand in it yet. I do hope this thing continues with the reign of Sol Ruca. That's it. I hope you all have a good day and I'll see you next time. Peace.

Kind Regards,
