Flowers Bloom in the Angel Wing (Sakurara's NEW BLOOD Tag Team Championship Reign)

"Angel Wing"

The system of the Andromeda Galaxy exists the Angel within our universe, the Poi hyper space belt and the Stone Face with her trusty Eel. Now that part of the Galaxy has disappeared, we have a new system as the next generation to takeover.

A Captain with a Mighty High Kick, but the heart of a 1000 Angels. A Disciple of a Fallen Angel who has risen to the heights to achieve her own Singularity and Angelic Wings. The Stone Faced warrior who continues despite her falling friends. The Fairy of everyone's dreams, but will soon disappear.

The Tropical Storm with so much infectious energy and the Speed of a Rushing Cheetah. And the newest particle. An hyper belt with so many potential to reach the heights of an indestructible and forcible unit. Together, they are an Angel Wing and are known as... Cosmic Angels...

Okay, I know that was a long way of introducing the Cosmic Angels, but I promise you it's not a faction based blog. I'll do that next time, because I love doing these. I promise you that I will repeat this introduction for the rest of the Cosmic Angels.

So today, we will be focusing on a tag team within the Cosmic Angels. Sakurara or in other words, the team of Aya Sakura and Sayaka Kurara. If you haven't see my recent DTC blog, then you should. Aya Sakura and Sayaka Kurara are no longer NEW BLOOD Tag Team Champions.

As per tradition, now that a reign is over, I will talk about. So with all that being said, let's get into it.

Sakurara's New Blood Tag Team Champions

  • Rice Or Bread (Waka Tsukiyama & HANAKO) (c) vs Sakurara (Aya Sakura & Sayaka Kurara) (17:15)
  • 30/10/2025
  • World Wonder Ring Stardom
  • NEW BLOOD Tag Team Championship Match
  • Stardom New Blood 26
  • ZERO: ★★★★★

One of my most underrated feuds in my time watching STARDOM is the feud between Rice Or Bread and Sakurara. This mainly centered around the HANAKO and Aya Sakura as they have that dates back even before they debuted at the same time. And I remember it most for that infamous "30 year old hag" backstage video I still have somehow.

I honestly still find that segment kind of ironic, but that's not the point. The match got me hooked from start to finish. Even though I have made my criticisms about tag team wrestling in the world of Joshi wrestling, this definitely makes up for that. The sequence of HANAKO and Sakura beating the piss out of one another is cool.

The match would reach its conclusion when Aya Sakura give HANAKO the power of a 1000 angels. She hit her Blooming Dream (her own custom version of a German Suplex) and pinned the Tallest woman on the roster for the 3. This meant that Sakurara are the new New Blood Tag Team Champions.

This was Sayaka Kurara winning her first title. Although it wasn't Aya Sakura's first title, it was her title in STARDOM. (Her first title was when she won the Sendai Girls World Junior Championship by beating Chi Chi at the time.) Now that the reign has begun, let's continue.

  • Sakurara (Aya Sakura & Sayaka Kurara) (c) vs Yuna Mizumori & Anne Kanaya (15:28) - V2
  • 03/02/2026
  • World Wonder Ring Stardom
  • NEW BLOOD Tag Team Championship Match
  • Stardom New Blood 28 ~ INITA Anniversary Vol.6
  • ZERO: ★★★★1/2

The first title defense for Sakurara as champions came in... February?? Uh... okay. That is fine. They took on the makeshift team of High Speed Champion Yuna Mizumori and the young rookie Anne Kanaya. (Keep Anne's name in the back of your head please.) I don't know if they had a tag team name so I'm not gonna risk it.

This was the main event and this was also really good. The show itself was an easy watch and this match was an pure example of that in every way possible. This was where my love for Aya Sakura really started to take off. This match would end after... After??? Wait a minute, how did this match end again?

(20 minutes later)

Aya Sakura would hit Anne Kanaya with her devastating German Suplex, which I will call the Pre-Bloom Dream (from now on) to get the 1, 2, 3, and retain the NEW BLOOD Tag Team Titles. Now that the reign has continued, let's keep going.

  • Sakurara (Sayaka Kurara & Aya Sakura) (c) vs Matoi Hamabe & Anne Kanaya (17:36) - V2
  • 06/05/2026
  • World Wonder Ring Stardom
  • NEW BLOOD Tag Team Championship Match
  • Stardom Golden Week Fight Tour 2026 In Fukuoka
  • ZERO: ★★★★1/4

Remember when I said to keep Anne Kanaya's name in the back of your mind. Yeah... This next title defense was a part of a mission that Anne Kanaya set for herself. For many months, fans (including myself) had mentioned that Kanaya would be perfect for Cosmic Angels. Eventually that mission would begin in this match.

Fresh off the heels of becoming World Of Stardom Champion, Sayaka Kurara was in element even though I wasn't really a fan. She reminds me of how I slowly and surely I began to love Kenta Kobashi. Much like the Legendary Mitsuharu Misawa, I loved Aya Sakura a lot from the first few matches. It took me a lot longer for me to like Kenta Kobashi than Misawa much like Sakura and Kurara.

This match was the example of that. It didn't have a perfect beginning, and it was rather slow. But that was made up by Aya Sakura and... Matoi Hamabe. At this point, Hamabe didn't join STARS, but she was very good. Her experience from her previous line as a Judoka really plays well into Aya Sakura's experience in Karate. (As you know, I'm not very happy whenever karate is mentioned.)

The match ended after Aya Sakura choked out Matoi Hamabe with the Triangle Choke. Now, let's continue on.

  • Sakurara (Aya Sakura & Sayaka Kurara) (c) vs Many Money (Kikyo Furusawa & Rian) (16:32)
  • 20/10/2026
  • World Wonder Ring Stardom
  • NEW BLOOD Tag Team Championship Match
  • Stardom Nighter In Korakuen (Oct 20th)
  • ZERO: ★★★★★3/4

The final defense of Sakurara would come at Korakuen Hall as they defended the NEW BLOOD Tag Team Titles against Itoh Respect Gundan's Many Money (Kikyo Furusawa & Rian). This is more a personal one as I have been doing my best to follow Kikyo's 1st year, and so I was ready for a miracle.

Both teams had a fun filled main event, which really packs the punch with the emotional weight to proceeds. Everyone brought their performances to the forefront, which showed the grit and determination within their skills and abilities. This also shows the masterful art of wrestling craft in general. And the fact I was screaming (with my inside voice) like a maniac.

This ended beautifully when Kikyo hit a Reverse Angle Slam on Kurara to take her out. After the two hit a Fuck You Stunner V on Aya Sakura, Rian ended things with her special move, the Hanaguruma. She pinned the Captain and Many Money are your new NEW BLOOD Tag Team Champions!!

This signals the end of Sakurara as NEW BLOOD Tag Team Champions...

The After Glow

The reign of Sakurara with the titles of the NEW BLOOD brand was an interesting sight. The matches can be debate for its' quality given that I am one man with an opinion. Many people have different opinions on this reign. Some are very positive and some are very negative, but we all have takes that can be discussed if done correctly.

This reign in particular hits a soft spot for me. Sure, I was more a God's Eye type of fan when I first got into watching STARDOM on full time basis, there was a lot more that I discovered since then. Ema Maishima and Kikyo Furusawa's journey when I started watching their journeys.

Hanan, Saya Iida and Momo Kohgo being the only members of STARS that were keeping the float. The rise of Mi Vida Loca and loving everyone's dynamics in that group. Neo Genesis being this group of Hot Shots looking to prove their mean more bounds. Everyone has a charm that makes you want to cheer for them to be successful.

Learning about the previous and current iterations of the Cosmic Angels makes these worth while to pay attention to. The caveat of this is that this tag team title reign suffers by the lack of title defenses in the near year long run they had. Even though it wasn't perfect, we keep moving forward... Thanks to the Angel Wing.

Thank you all for reading and I will see you all next time. Goodbye.

Kind Regards,
ZERO (or Archer)

I won't lie... I have had a weird time just viewing wrestling for what it is for the past few months since December. I still love wrestling, don't get me wrong, but felt so restrictive and rage inducing in the past 10 months.  Credit: Dream Star Fighting Marigold I would always try to catch up on my shows. Whether that being Ring Of Honor or STARDOM, I always enjoy the show and switch my mind off things snarky, but I felt a bit empty and sad immediately following it.  It doesn't help that I have been behind shows and don't have enough willpower as I used it to drag myself to a lot of wrestling shows.  It was definitely overwhelming my brain as a result to try watching anything so I felt a bit dead inside. Credit: Wrestle Universe That feeling changed when I decided to re-subscribe... to Wrestle Universe. Wrestle Universe is a streaming service for multiple wrestling promotions. It started out as DDT Universe in 2016 from the promotion, Dramatic Dream Team (DDT) and thei...

A Beautiful Madness turned into US Bootleg Marceline (Giulia's WWE Women's United States Championship Reign)

[ZERO & Carbon x Moha Co-Production] This has been pissing me off for quite a while. Since I have watched the Women's Africa Cup of Nations, I have been more calm to do this than previous attempts. However, I have the temper within me to keep punching the wall every time. And trust me, if I can deal with CAF taking the absolute piss in that tournament, then I can do anything.  Credit: New Japan Pro-Wrestling But that is simply a different tangent for a different day. Today, I will be going through two title reigns as supposed to one title reign. And with the added premise of it all being focused on one wrestler And that is the "Beautiful Madness" Giulia.  The Former International Ribbon Tag Team Champion, Two-Time Artist Of Stardom Champion, Wonder Of Stardom Champion, Goddesses Of Stardom Champion, World Of Stardom Champion, NJPW STRONG Women's Champion, WWE NXT Women's Champion & Two-Time WWE Women's United States Champion. *ANYWAY* She has a very ba...

[ZERO x PAT x Knights Of C-Donia Production] Well... I didn't see that coming. With my most recent Dynamic Thunder Connection blog done, I have introduced Akira Kurogane as the newest member of the series for the duration of the 5★STAR. With that being the case, I fully expected to just dive into that.  However, STARDOM decided to do something that made me do impromptu stuff like a PPP TOKYO's Pole Dancing performances before their shows begin. Before I dive into this reign, I have to explain the context as to how the reign ended to giveaway for my post reign opinions.  However if I do miss anything, Pat and Uncle have to correct me more harder than Marge Simpson disciplining Homer Simpson at home. Also this reminds that The Simpsons has been going on for 38 seasons. That is impressive given how episodic that show is. How It Came To An End? On July 15th, STARDOM would do a livestream in promoting the 5STAR GP. It's one of those green screen ones, which they haven't done...
