The Trailblazer: Alexander Barclay #4 - Tiki Taka Style (FIFA 16 My Player Mode)

It has been quite fun since I started this mini-series on Alexander Barclay from BFordLancer. Also shout to Jake Barford (BFordLancer), who liked my tweets on X/Twitter. It is most probably because I tag him in every one of the episodes so far. Sorry about that pal. So let's continue the ride with the American Legend, Alexander Barclay.

Episode 5: New Car + Derby Match
The episode starts with Barclay back in England after the International Break. He is going to get his new car... Yeah, it's definitely a life story that we keep up with as we go along. The first game of the episode is Plymouth Argyle away at Molton Road. In the 20 minute, Barclay cuts passes two defenders to get in the box from a received pass. He shoots and scores a goal for Portsmouth. It's 1 - 0 to the visitors.

Plymouth would have a lot of chances and kept up the pressure from when they conceded. There was a moment in the 76th minute where Portsmouth's attacking three including Barclay do their great passing technique which led to a unlucky shot against the post. Barclay would eventually be subbed off at the 84 minute. Even though he has been playing quite a lot, he still gets substituted or benched more than he should. Which ties into the current story arc about his stamina/fitness.

He would be benched for Portsmouth's 2 - 1 win against Luton Town. And later in the week, Barclay got his new car which is really cool and I might inspire to work for my car one day. In the away game against Oxford United, they decided to turn this football game into Jujutsu Kaisen in the first half. 12 minutes into the second half, Barclay runs into the box as his two teammates make a great link up play. After receiving a brilliant through ball, Barclay shoots a fast and powerful into the bottom corner to get Portsmouth up 1 - 0 in 57th minute.

Barclay would be assisting as well as he cuts off a pass from centre back Baldock and eventually had ball control until he made a through pass to his captain Michael Doyle. Doyle scorched it into the upper right corner. 2 - 0 to the visitors as the game ends after that.

After the game, Barclay's agent went out on a drive with him to tell him important news. This obviously leads to the next episode, which is a nice cliffhanger.

Episode 6: Sponsorships
The title of the next episode reveals this as companies are wanting him to sponsor them which are Umbro and New Balance. He kind of dissed them by saying it's not as top tier as Adidas or Nike, which is true, but damn man. Portsmouth are currently in 1st place as the first game is against 4th place Dag & Red in League Two.

In the 18th minute, Barclay ran to the edge of the box to cut inside. He passes to his teammate and scores a good goal, making it 1 - 0. Portsmouth really showcase their teamwork as they use passing to breakthrough the defenses. In the 51st minute, Barclay attempt an outside the box shot and it hits the post... However, Barclay gets the loose ball on the rebound and shoots it in the net to extend Portsmouth's lead to 2 - 0.

Dag & Red had taken many chances and put Portsmouth on the back since Barclay extended the lead. Portsmouth didn't back down and the game ended 2 - 0 to the home team. The next scene is training session as Barclay and the team are prepping for the Emirates FA Cup. We haven't seen a training session in a bit so it's quite cool. Now we have a FA Cup game against Cambridge United.

Portsmouth kicks off with the pressure and even Barclay surprisingly got a yellow card from sliding tackling him. I don't know how he didn't get a red card for that. The attacks continue into the second half as Portsmouth did everything to get a goal with set pieces and shot chances. However in the 83rd minute, Cambridge United did their air ball link-up play and led to Hipperdinger scoring a goal from a header. It is now 1 - 0 to Cambridge.

Unfortunately, Portsmouth would fail to get a goal and Cambridge United advanced to the next round of the Emirates FA Cup. The last scene sees Barclay in the shower... Yeah. I do like this scene as Barclay reflects on the game and blames himself for failing even though it's not his fault. If you have played team sports, you would know how that feels both physically and mentally.

Post: I was going to do more episodes of this My Player on this blog, but I am lacking on time so I do that some other time. We are almost halfway into the Portsmouth Beginning and I might do three or four episode in one blog for the future. I hope you all enjoyed this and I'll see you next time. Bye Poi!

Kind Regards,
ZERO (or Archer)
