Ami Sourei: Always the Pre or Main Bridesmaid (feat. Mihaawk)

"Always the bridesmaid, never the bride"

"Always the bridesmaid, never the bride" is a classic idiom used to describe someone who is frequently close to achieving a major success or central role, but always ends up in a supporting or secondary position.

In the world of wrestling, we see this all of the time where a wrestler who seemed to be destined to be at the top, but never seem to reach there. The best example of this in the modern times was Hirooki Goto. Emphasis on "was", because after almost 2 decades of being a bridesmaid, he finally became a bride by winning the IWGP World Heavyweight Title (now IWGP Heavyweight Title) in 2025.

Now that honor seems to belong to now Yuya Uemura in Japan's Reiwa Era of New Japan Pro-Wrestling. In STARDOM however, there is a pattern I have noticed with certain title matches, particularly for their Wonder Of Stardom Championship.

There is one wrestler that has made a mark for this, and that being Ami Sourei. She has been involved with the Wonder Of Stardom Title on 5 different occassions. 3 title matches and 2 #1 Contender's bouts with 20% win rate. 3 out of 5 of them being more recent to the point its' a statpad.

And it's kind of funny in a sense. Multae sunt pronubae; omnino fieri non potest quin sint primae notae. Which means that if you are amongst bridesmaids, who couldn't reach a certain title, are you the main one or secondary to the point no one roots for your victory.

I was watching Saya Iida vs Ami Sourei on my way to work. It is a really good match, but there was something I notice from the crowd's applause. Saya Iida was the heavy clear favourite in this match and went on to win the match. She (Saya Iida) unfortunately went to lose against Konami, just 21 days later.

Ami Sourei was a lot less than I expected, or maybe my ears are broken and didn't exactly hear it. Maybe this whole blog was just to feature Mihaawk like I did with Uncle. I changed a lot of the time since the reign of Dream Trine, but it seems like there is a lot more in the tank.

Anyway, thank you all for viewing this one. Goddesses Of Stardom Tag League is next, so maybe I'll follow that one as we go along. Go follow @_Mihaawk if you have X. If you don't, that's way better for your mental health. I'll see you next time. Vale.

Kind Regards,

ZERO (or Archer)
