DTC VIII: The Battle Of All Battles - Rookie Edition
[Disclaimer: My prepared an entire blog beforehand, only for it to be erased because it didn't save on my computer. Now I am rewriting everything from scratch once again. I hate it when this kind of thing happens because it has happened a few times and it sucks every time.]
The match was a brilliant fight from start to finish. If I have to describe this bout as a whole from my perspective, it was a culmination of what both have experienced and learnt over the past year. (And I have described it in the best way both passionately and emotionally... just for my computer not to save it. Fun day isn't it.) The match starts off with the chain wrestling and I am instantly remind of their three singles matches, as Ema is on the offence and Kikyo adjusts to her offense and takes control.
What burns in my head is the spots that feature them being in each other's submission maneuvers. This really shows as to much they have changed since their last two singles meetings which ended in submission ironically enough. Kikyo was able to reach the ropes after surviving the Single Leg Boston Crab. Ema's struggle to get to the ropes was really when the match threw me into an emotional fever pitch. That time Ema was unfortunately out with an injury, Kikyo had gotten stronger and even more efficient alongside Maki Itoh. This made for an emotional scene when Ema was able to escape the variation of her Ankle Lock by getting to the ropes. This was absolutely beautiful... and damn Daichi. I know Daichi Murayama counts rope breaks when the elbow is over the rope, but did you have to kick Ema's hand off to get that point across.
The finish got me tears in ways that I haven't imagined. Furusawa attempt her mentor (Maki Itoh)'s move, Fuck You Stunner, Ema escaped and quickly transitioned into the La Casita to get the shocking victory. Ema Maishima has won the Rookie Of Stardom Tournament and in a great way too. She has been using that La Casita as a deadly pinning technique which got her to the final and using that to catch the opponent off guard. That is brilliant and honestly, I never that crying would make me love myself. I will always love Ema Maishima and Kikyo Furusawa until the day I die. I love you both,
Singles Record: 2 - 1 - 1 (Ema has more wins on Kikyo singles wise)
ZERO: ★★★★★
My Thoughts On Ema Maishima winning
Okay. So my thoughts are a bit up in the clouds. I was surprised that Ema Maishima even got to the finals against Kikyo Furusawa seeing as she just returned from an injury. However, it didn't stop me from celebrating that announcement like a fanboy. I was so shocked that she did win the thing and many others on the Western side of the Joshi fandom were flabbergasted as well. Personally? I never really focused on the result since I thought it was predictable. I do understand if you are a fan of Kikyo which mean that my body of support is two halves like Kamen Rider W (Double).
What's Next?
Ema Maishima will challenge Ranna Yagami for the Future Of Stardom Championship at Stardom's biggest show of the year, All Star Grand Queendom. It seems like the next episode will be an Ema Maishima focused episode. I hope she does her absolute best against Yagami and I hope she becomes champion. I can't wait for April 26th.
